How to Mat and Frame a Painting for an Exhibit

How to cut a mat to fit your painting & how to apply hanging hardware. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 pm. WSI Signature Member Tim Lewis will lead this class.

Each participant needs to bring:
1. A watercolor painting to frame. (please, not larger than 12” x 16”)
2. A frame, with acrylic or glass for the painting. The inside dimensions of the frame must be at least 3” larger than the painting in each direction.
3. A piece of mat board in the color you want to use. Must be larger than the inside dimensions of the frame.
4. A piece of 3/16” thick foam core. Must be larger than the inside dimensions of the frame.

We will provide the mat cutters, D-rings, wire, tape framing points, and all tools needed. Each participant will leave with their painting framed and ready to hang for an exhibit.
