Education & OutreachWSI Gives Back to the Community and Spreads the Joy of Watercolor
WSI helps fund, and members participate in art camps for all ages. WSI helps fund and provides volunteers for the Hamilton County Art Association (HCAA) Art Camps. WSI supported the HCAA Art Camp June 7-10, 2021. The art camp started on Monday with the children creating the framework of their paper mache animals and then putting on the paste paper. On day two we studied the artist Chuck Close and then painted self-portraits in his style. The third day was a paint day of the paper mâché animals and decorating a picture frame. Day four introduced the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky and the children used oil pastels to create his concentric circles and washed over it with watercolor paint. They also made a 5 x 7 painting in Kandinsky’s abstract style. The students worked diligently and were fortunate to have one on one assistance as needed. If you have an idea for an art camp and would like support from WSI, please contact us. WSI is helping guide our next generation of artists, problem solvers and thinkers! |
