WSI Gives Back to the Community and Spreads the Joy of Watercolor
WSI helps fund, and members participate in art camps for all ages. This year, WSI supported the HCAA Art Camp June 7-10, 2021. The art camp started on Monday with the children creating the framework of their paper mache animals and then putting on the paste paper. On day two we studied about the artist Chuck Close and then we painted self-portraits in his style. The third day was a paint day of the paper mache animals and decorating a picture frame. On day four they learned about the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky and used oil pastels to create his concentric circles and washed over it with watercolor paint. They also made a 5 x 7 painting in Kandinsky’s abstract style. The students worked diligently and were fortunate to have one on one assistance if they needed it
If you have an idea for an art camp and would like support from WSI, please contact us. WSI is helping guide our next generation of artists, problem solvers and thinkers!
The WSI awards the James C. Lentz Memorial Art Scholarship annually to an Indiana high school senior pursuing a degree in the visual arts, fine arts, arts education or an art-based field in a college, university, or school of design. The student must be graduating from an Indiana high school by July 1 of the scholarship year.
